HANBURY DAVIES’ 100 TRUCK ORDER INCLUDES 10,000th VOLVO
DELIVERY FOR MAIDSTONE’S MC TRUCK AND BUS LTD
Over 100 new Euro 5 FH-480, 6x2 tractor units have gone into service with Hanbury Davies Ltd. based in Felixstowe, one of the largest privately owned distribution and logistics companies in the U.K. The order, which was supplied by Volvo Dealer MC Truck and Bus of Maidstone, included the 10,000th truck delivered since their formation in 1982.
Ian Wilson, Managing Director, Hanbury Davies Ltd. commenting on the major fleet order said. “As a national company, it is crucial that we have full support for our trucks - something which the Volvo Dealer Network consistently provides across the U.K. The Volvo’s are both proven and reliable and are very acceptable from a drivers’ point of view. The new Euro 5 engine range has performed well on fuel and Volvo residual values are strong when it comes to resale. Bringing all these aspects together combined with minimal downtime results in whole life costs that are lower than that of the competition”.
“In terms of vehicle buying and disposal and driver appeal, we select specifications that we think are going to most appeal in order to support future values. Drivers are in vehicles for 50 to 60 hours per week and we therefore like to ensure that time spent at the wheel is as pleasurable and luxurious as possible.
We go the extra mile to look after our drivers by providing top specification trucks which include features such as leather upholstery and fridges.”
The fleet comprises a mixture of 480 and 520 bhp ratings in the Globetrotter XL Prestige Trim cabbed 6x2 tractors. Some are equipped with Volvo’s I-shift automatic gearbox - a factor which contributes to lower operating costs and optimum uptime.
MC Truck and Bus have been supplying Hanbury Davies with Volvo’s for 5 years. Ian added. “We find that MC has a management style and team that really gels with us as a company. Hanbury Davies Group operates a mixed fleet of 800 trucks including Volvo. Covering around 75,000 miles a year each, the trucks are on full R & M contracts.
